Consultant and former Director of School and Youth Suicide Prevention, at the NYS OMH's Suicide Prevention Center of New York
Pat Breux is Consultant and Educator with content area expertise in youth suicide prevention and mental wellness. Before her recent retirement from the NYSOMH Suicide Prevention Center of New York, she served as Director of School and Youth Initiatives. In that role she provided suicide prevention, intervention, and postvention training, consultation and resources to school and youth serving organizations across the State.
Each year more than 80 school-aged children die by suicide and nearly 2,000 are hospitalized for suicide attempts in New York State. How should schools respond and what resources should be utilized? Through reallife examples of school and community partnerships, participants will learn about the components of a comprehensive approach to school suicide prevention with an emphasis on best practices and how to access resources, consultation, and training toward improving suicide safety.
